Mitered Elbow

Hello,

I am using AutoPLANT SS4.

When trying to insert a 45 degree LR elbow on a center line with 60 degree we are getting a script error. Please see attached file 1.

When trying to insert a 45 degree mitered elbow (please see attached file 2) on a center line with 60 degree we are getting a 45 degree mitered elbow that is not correct (please see attached file 3).

When inserting a 45 degree mitered elbow in a point in space we are getting the correct mitered elbow. Please see attached file 4.

Why when inserting a 45 degree mitered elbow on a center line with 60 degree we are not getting the same error we are getting when trying to insert a 45 degree LR elbow?

Looking forward hearing from you.

Best Regards

Alex

  • Hello Alex,

And thank you for your question. The mitered and trimmed elbow's placement routine allows to adjust elbows angle based on centerline data. While trying to place elbow with predefined and fixed angle on a center line that has  different angle, AutoPlant shows inconsistency message stating that the elbow cannot be set on a center line with different angle.

I hope this will answer your question.

    Regards,

    Artiom

  • Hello Artiom,

    Thank you for your help.

Regarding this issue, is it possible to define the bend radius as 1.5R or 1R or... (please see the attached file) in the catalog so it will reduce humen errors?

    Looking forward hearing from you.

    Regards,

  • Hello Alex,

No, this list is not controlled from specification, and there is no easy way to define it that way. By default, possible values for this selection dialog is stored in a drawing xdata variable BENDRADIUSLIST (what it is set for current model can be checked using (at_pipingsystem_displayvariables) command in acad command line). You can update it by using (at_pipingsystem_setvariable "BENDRADIUSLIST" "<<new values list>>") command.

For new models, it is read initially from SYSPREF.INI file, located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Plant V8i\Piping\ folder.

If you have required programming skills, you can set it up to get this list from a SPEC or some other source by customizing at_MiterElbow_Input Subroutine in input.ebs file (located C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Plant V8i\Modules\Base\common). Default values for bend radius list is retrieved at line 406:
