Background

Topworks can be used to add an operator on Valves. To have custom Topworks with desired geometry user need to customize the settings which are described as below:

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Go to project location. See default metric project path.

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\Bentley PlantV8i Projects\SAMPLE_METRIC\Config\OpenPlant\Isometrics\styles\IFC\config.

Or navigate to project folder through Open Plant isometric manager Configuration option. See image below:

  2. Open file "Operator.tbl" in notepad. User can add a new Topworks "CONE_OPERATOR". User need to assign operator name and isometric symbol name here. Edit these changes as shown in yellow mark below:

    #-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    # This file maps an operator name (as supplied by OPM) to a symbol to be
    # used in isometrics
    #
    # format:   <OPM operator name>, <isometric symbol>
    #-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    HAND_WHEEL, OP_HND
    LEVER_OPERATOR, OP_HND
    CHAIN_OPERATOR, OP_CHN
    CYLINDER_OPERATOR, OP_CYL
    DIAPHRAGM_OPERATOR, OP_DIA
    GEARBOX_OPERATOR, OP_GEA
    MOTOR_OPERATOR, OP_MOT
    CONE_OPERATOR, OP_CON
    ML120_10 , OP_MOT
    ML120_20 , OP_MOT
    ML120_40 , OP_MOT
    ML120_80 , OP_MOT
    ML120_190 , OP_MOT
    # the following line maps uny yet unmapped OPM operator type
    # to the generic isometrics operator symbol
    *   , OP_HND

After adding the operator name it should look like below mentioned image.

NOTE: For unavailable Topworks in cell library, by default it considers "OP_HND" and show it as a Hand wheel on valves in isometrics.

Add Topworks Symbol in Cell Library:

To get new symbol to be appear in isometrics, user need to add it in cell library. Below are the steps to add:

  3. Open Seed file of the current Project. See image below.

  4. Go to "IsoExtractor" option > "Create Cell tool"

  5. Select operator DGN template and click on "Open". See image below.

In Operator DGN template you will find the existing symbol of Topworks. User may copy the existing Topworks and modify it as desired, or you can create new using Micro Station editing tools.

Note: To create a new symbol, need to assign a "connecting points" and intersection points precisely in order to appear correctly on valves in isometrics.

  6. After copying the existing symbol, use "place connect point" option and assign a connection point on Topworks symbol. Also rename the operator name and symbol name. See image below :

  7. After creating a new symbol, click on ‘create cell’ option and provide cell name to it. See image below:

  8. Save seed file and generate the isometrics. Verify the operator on valves. See below for reference.
