To set different Inlet/outlet ratings for Relief Valves in OpenPlant Modeler.

Background

In OpenPlant Modeler, to customize different ratings for relief valve at inlet/outlet, below are the explanations illustrated through which user should be able to place a mating components with correct ratings.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Edit Spec ‘VLVRELFL’ to be used and add rating of relief Valve as 300150LB in rating column instead of 300LB and also edit LONG_DESCR column from 300 to 300150LB. See image below for reference. Default Spec EX-OPM has been used here.

Note: This will exactly show same Bill Of Materials.

  2. In working project unit, customize the variable. Considering the default Imperial project, OPModeler_Imperial.pcf edit set OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_RATING as:

    OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_RATING = CL150;CL125|CL250;CL300|PN25;PN40|PN10;PN16|300150LB;CL150|300150LB;CL300

Note: User may add multiple combinations of inlet/outlet ratings in spec which also need to be written in project PCF file. See image below:

  3. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, select current project, and select the working spec, say Ex-OPM.

  4. Select Relief valve (PRV) from the Piping task bar under row ‘S’ and click to place.

  5. It prompts Relief valve dialog box to select the desired rating. Select 300150LB rating and click on ‘OK’.

  6. Give a Name for valve, say PRV-1. Place it on space. Do the element info to check ratings. See image below.

  7. Designer should be able to select correct flanges, fasteners and gaskets, as both 300LB and 150LB will be displayed. Here we select spec which contains 300LB rating flange. Spec B1-OPM contains 300 LB flange. Change spec to B1-OPM.

Note: You may customize the same spec to get the 300LB rating flange and hardware’s.

  8. Select WNRF flange from piping task bar under row ‘F’. It prompts a dialog box asking to select CL300 flange on it. Place it on inlet 8” side.

  9. Reselect spec EX-OPM and place a 10 “flange 150LB rating on outlet side.

  10. After placement of flange, Place pipe on it. Extract BOM. See image below for reference.

If user needs to change the rating nomenclature from 300150LB and wanted to read as CL300/150, then it can be configured by adding a new property in ‘RATING_VALUE_MAP’ and by mapping it through custom attribute. See below procedure to achieve it.

  1. Select spec which contains the rating value as ‘CL 300/150’. See image below.

  2. In class editor, open ‘OpenPlant_3D.01.04.ecschema.xml’ schema.

  3. Supplement it with ‘OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.04.ecschema.xml’ schema.

  4. Create a property CL300150 under "RATING_VALUE_MAP" class. See image below.

  5. Define the rating in project PCF file as shown in below image.

Note - If user is working with Managed Workspace Environment then variable should be entered in  respective project CSB (Configuration Setting Block). Below are the steps to check.

    1. Launch ProjectWise Administrator and login to your data source.

    2. Go to Workspace, Managed Node and select respective Project CSB.

    3. Double click to open the Configurations dialog.

    4. Search Variable OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_RATING.

    5. Modify the value as shown in below image.

    6. After adding the variable it should show like below image in CSB dialog.

  6. Place components and verify results.
