How to retain the symbology of components during Reference Out

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant ModelServer
    Version(s): 08.11.11.XXX
    Environment: Windows 7/8 64 bit
    Area: Projectwise
    Subarea:
Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Technical Support Group

    Background

In the latest release of OpenPlant ModelServer and OpenPlant Modeler builds, dialog to override the symbology while referencing out components from server has been disabled.

    Steps to Resolve

User need to add a configuration variable OPM_OPMS_SETTING_REFERENCEOUT_NO_SYMBOLOGY_CHANGE and set the value to 1 which will help the components retain the original symbology while reference out from server.

This variable can be added within OPM as well as on a Project CSB from PW Admin interface.

    Adding the variable within OPM

    1. Open the model in managed workspace.
    2. Before connecting to OPMS repository, go to Workspace>Configuration.

    3. Click the add button as highlighted in below picture.

    4. Add the variable name in the dialog.

    5. Click the Add button in the same dialog and key-in the value as 1 in next dialog.

    6. Click OK in this dialog and subsequent dialog boxes to save the changes.

NOTE: The above mentioned method is a user setting hence will be only available to the user who will add it.

Adding the variable in Project CSB from PW Admin

    1. Launch Projectwise Administrator.

    2. Go to Project Node in and double click on the project to open the properties dialog.

    3. Switch to Configuration tab and click ADD button.

    4. Add the variable name and description as shown below.

    5. Click Add button on the same dialog and key-in the value in next dialog.

    6. Click OK on this dialog and subsequent dialogs to save the changes.

    Verify the Result

    1. Open a model and create a new Pipeline.
    2. Place few components and note the symbology.

    3. Check-in all the components into server.

    4. Now reference out the pipeline from server and check the symbology.

Note: Variable mentioned in the above steps will work with OpenPlant Modeler build 08.11.09.566. Click Here to Download the build.
