Background

In Plant Design, few users avoid showing Socket Weld graphically in the Isometrics, which means other weld symbol like Butt weld will be shown. To achieve this requirement minor change in Schema is required. The steps are applicable to both AutoPLANT Modeler and OpenPlant Modeler with OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. Below steps are described in context with both AutoPLANT Modeler-OpenPlant isometrics Manager & OpenPlant Modeler - OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Using Bentley Class editor open "OpenPlant_3D.01.07.ecschema" schema and supplement it with "OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Isometrics_Isoextractor.01.07.ecschema" & "OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07.ecschema".
For More information on supplementing schema click here>>>>

  2. Using "Find Class" button search class "PIPING_FASTNER_SOCKET_WELD".

  3. For PIPING_FASTENER_SOCKET_WELD class, scroll down to Isometric Mappings custom attribute & change "Is Skip" from False to True as shown below.

  4. Navigate to JOINT class, go to Joint Type[2] for Joint Name SOCKET_WELD_JOINT
  5. In Fastener field, replace WELD name to  "PIPING_FASTNER_SOCKET_WELD". See image below.

  6. Save & Close Schema.
  7. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.
  8. Generate Isometrics & Verify Results. See image below.
