Invalid Catalog Selected Issues in OpenPlant Specification Generator

Overview

To fix ‘Invalid Catalog Selected’ error message in OpenPlant Specification Generator.

Problem Description

In OpenPlant Specification Generator, while creating a catalog using MS Access files, some of the fields or Data Types mismatches with respect to its specs. Further opening the spec using OpenPlant Specification Generator, it throws an error stating Invalid Catalog Selected along with the list of Fields which got problems with the Data Types and its Fields. See below image. Error In table: PIPE Column:THD_ENG_R is defined as System.String instead of System.Double 

                   

To fix this problem user need to open the corresponding mdb file using ms access and edit the Data Types and Fields. Below steps will describe the matter significantly. 

Steps to Resolve

  1. Navigate to Project path for Catalog Databases folder.

  2. Open Corresponding Catalog to fix the issue.

  3. Open MDB file, say ASME.mdb here.

  4. Go to PIPE table.

  5. Set the View as Design View. 



  6. Check THD_ENG_R, COMP_LEN, & WEIGHT_DRY classes. 



  7. Change the Data Type to NUMBER and Field Size as Double like shown below for WEIGHT_DRY. 



  8. Similarly change it for other Fields.

  9. Save & close the Catalog.

  10. Launch OpenPlant Specification Generator and verify results. 

Problem Description - Bolt issue

In OpenPlant Specification Generator, while creating a new catalog for Bolts & further when it gets updated for a spec along with default Bentley catalog, an Error message prompts for "Invalid Catalog Selected"

          

Steps to Resolve

  1. Navigate to Project path for Catalog Databases folder.

  2. Open Corresponding Catalog to fix the issue.

  3. Open newly created mdb file which is causing an issue

  4. Go to BOLT table.

  5. Set the View as Design View. 



  6. Check QTY_PERSET field for default value.



  7. Change the Data Type and Field Size as Double like shown below. 



  8. Save & close the Catalog.

  9. Launch OpenPlant Specification Generator and verify results.
