    Background

Sometimes admin wants to predefine the project objects like UNIT & SERVICE for the users so that they don't have to add these items every time they open a new model. At the same time admin wants to control the rights of users so that they can't Add/Modify the associated items in the design file as well.

Preparing the Seed file for users

You need to prepare the seed file for users which is one time activity and when users create a new design file associated items will be ready to use. There are two ways to prepare the seed file for users.

    1. Add UNIT and SERVICE in the seed file one by one manually through create pipeline tool.

    2. Import the instances from text file into seed file. Please read this article for the steps to import associated items.

Once the seed file is ready you can replace it with the one already placed in \\Dataset\Seed folder.

    Modifications Required in Schema

    1. Open Class Editor and load OpenPlant_3D schema.

    2. Supplement it with OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_ModelingViews schema.

    3. Go to UNIT class and switch to Properties tab.

    4. Select NAME property and change the General Status to 'Show: read-only' in Property Display Status.

    5. Similarly, change the general status on SERVICE class as well.

    6. Save the schemas.

    Verify the Result

    1. Create a new design file using the seed file where UNIT and SERVICE are added in the above section.

    2. Open the Create Pipeline tool and check UNIT and SERVICE. You will see the values in the drop down list.

    3. Select any Unit and click Modify button.

    4. You will see the property is greyed out and can't be edited.

    5. Click Add button to add new UNIT value.

You will see that NAME field is greyed out and can't be edited.
