Background

We will discuss about the update existing feature in OpenPlant Modeler in this article. Update existing feature is used to update the graphics of Custom Equipment without loosing the Metadata information. This feature allows you to make the graphical changes on the existing custom equipment which ensures that you do not lose the data associated with the equipment such as Tag, Description, Temperature, Pressure.

Steps to Follow

  1. Select any custom equipment in the model.

    Check it's properties before modification.

  2. Right click on the equipment and select Drop option from context menu.

  3. With the elements dropped, there will be a bounding box created around the equipment.

Let's remove the dish from the right side of the vessel.

  4. Now open the create equipment dialog from Equipment task.

Note: Primitives inside the bounding box should be selected before opening this dialog otherwise 'Update Existing' option will be greyed out.

  5. Click the 'Update Existing' button on the dialog box and select the bounding box of the equipment.

Once update process is finished, you will see a message in the message center as highlighted in above picture.

  6. Check the properties again after modification.
