Background

This article will explain what steps are required to create own tag types and how to map it with existing OpenPlant PID Class. In this article, we will create a tag type and map it with AGITATOR class.

Steps to Accomplish

Changes Required in Class Editor

1. Open class editor and load mapping schema.
   

2. Click EQUIPMENT class from the active classes as shown below.
   
   
   
   
3. Select the EQUIPMENT class on the left pane and wait until you see the Class Mapping Information on right.
   
   
4. Right click on EQUIPMENT class and select Copy Mapping from the context menu.
   
   
   
   
5. Select AGITATOR class. Right click on it and Paste Mapping.
   
   
   
   
6. Toggle the Active option on the right pane as shown below.
   
   
   
   
7. Click Edit button on the right pane.
   
   
   
   
8. In the General Tab, select the Class Specification and click Edit button. Change the Value to AT_EQAGIT.
   
   
   
   
9. Switch to Insert tab and select default column values. Click Edit button to edit it.
   
   
   
   
10. Change the Value from AT_EQUIP to AT_EQAGIT.
    
    
    
    
11. Save the changes and close the Class Editor.
    
    

Create New Tag Type in Project Administrator

1. Launch Project Administrator.
2. Expand the respective project.
   
   
3. Expand Database Node and select Tag Types.
   
   
4. Select AT_EQPMP from Tag Type and click Copy button.
   
   
5. Change the Tag type and description in the following dialog as shown below.
   
   
6. Click OK to save the changes.

Create New AT_View in Project Administrator

1. Select AT_Views node in under Database.
   
   
   
   
2. Select AT_EQPMP view and click New button on the right side.
   
   
   
   
3. Select the option From Current View option and click OK.
   
   
   
   
4. Change the name and description of the view.
   
   
   
   
5. Click Design button and in the following dialog select the AT_EQAGIT tag type from the list.
   
   
   
   
6. Check ON both the highlighted options and click Save to apply the changes.
   
   
   

Create Custom View for Agitator in Data Manager (Optional)

1. Open the Data Manager.
2. Select ‘Equipment List – Pump’ view from the views list.
   
    
3. Right click on it and select New from context menu.
   
   
4. Select the third option from dialog as shown below and click OK.
   
   
5. Change the Name and Description of the view and click Design button.
   
   
6. Click ‘Design with Access’ button in the following dialog.
   
   
7. Change the Criteria from AT_EQPMP to AT_EQAGIT and exit from the Access.
   
   

Verify the Result

1. Launch OpenPlant PID in respective project and open a new drawing.
   
   
2. Place an Agitator in the drawing.
   
   
   
   
3. Synchronize the drawing with database and open data manager once the sync process is completed.
   
   
4. Open the ‘Equipment List-Agitator’ view in the data manager and check the data.
   
   
   
   
5. Right click in the Agitator view and select New Tag from context menu.
   
   
   
   
6. Select AT_EQAGIT tag type from the list and click OK.
   
   
   
   
7. Key-in the tag values and click OK to add the tag.
   
   
   
   
8. Now go back to PID drawing and place a new Agitator in the drawing.
   
   
9. In the placement dialog click Browse button to browse for the tag.
   
   
   
   
10. Toggle the highlighted option in Find Component dialog.
    
    
    
    
11. Now expand the Alternate Repository and you will see the AG-001 tag is now available to use.
