To Assign Field Fit Weld Allowances for BOM CutList in OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.

Background

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, Field Fit weld allowances has been needed in BOM cut list report to allow extra length of pipe to order which can be further trimmed for end preparation at site. However assigning extra length will not show up in DWG dimension, but it will report in BOM for ordering the extra length. This could be realized using both AutoPLANT Modeler and OpenPlant Modeler user with OpenPlant Isometrics Manager. Check below steps described for both ways.

Steps to Accomplish

A.   Using AutoPLANT Modeler & OpenPlant Isometrics Manager

Case1: To assign a default value in the generated isometrics.

  1. Open Project Administrator and click on Create/Modify option.

  2. This will launch Isometric Configuration dialog box.
  3. From Advanced option, click on Explore Style option.

Note - From working project navigate to style.cfg file. See below default path for reference
    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\Bentley Plant V8i Projects\SAMPLE_METRIC\Config\OpenPlant \Isometrics \styles\IFC\config\style.cfg

  4. Open Style.cfg File and remove # from variable WA_FIELD_FIT and enter allowances as desired. See image below.

Note- User may write 6 or 150 for length as it will apply a factor of 25 if value less than 20.

  5. Save & Close file.
  6. Generate Isometrics and verify results. User can notice the Dimension appears on pipe is the true length and length shown in BOM and Cut list report is sum of true length and allowances set in style.cfg file.

    Note
    - User may select different Weld Types and assign the same to isometrics Drawing.

Case 2: To represent the field fit length assigned in the AutoPLANT Modeler in the Isometric

  1. Confirm the Field Fit Length assigned in the AutoPLANT Modeler.

  2. Open the style.xml file from the Isometric Configuration.

  3. In the dimensioning section add the following lines:

    <ShowAllowance>True</ShowAllowance>
    <AllowanceFormat>(+%)</AllowanceFormat>

NOTE-For more information regarding weld allowance settings refer this link.>>>>

  4. Save the Style.xml file, regenerate the isometrics and review the dimensions of the generated isometrics. The generated isometrics will have dimensions with the allowance.

B.   Using OpenPlant Modeler & OpenPlant Isometrics Manager

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, Select Project Unit.
  2. Place a Pipe and fittings. Go to generate weld.
  3. Right click on weld and select Modify Component option.

  4. From Operating Conditions tab, enter data to Excess length and select Type as Field Fit.

  5. Open Style.cfg File and remove # from variable WA_FIELD_FIT and enter allowances as desired. See image below.

Note- User may write “6” or “150” for length as it will apply a factor of 25 if value less than 20. Also please note in case of older version of OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, user need not have to edit this Style.cfg file.

  6. Save & Close file.
  7. Create Isosheet and publish I dgn to generate isometrics.
  8. Launch OpenPlant Isometrics Manager.
  9. Generate Isometrics and verify results. See below results for CUT LIST report and BOM report.
