How to Show Weld Symbol on Threaded Joint

Background

In OpenPlant Modeler, by default threaded joints do not have any symbol to show the connection as shown below.

If user wants to show a weld symbol for verification purpose to determine the connection the below steps should be followed.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open class editor and load OpenPlant_3D schema.

  2. Supplement it with OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling schema.

  3. Go to WELD class and right click on it and select 'Add Derived Class' from options as highlighted below.



  4. Name the new class say 'THREADED_CONNECTION'.



  5. Go to JOINT class in the schema and locate THREADED_JOINT in the joint map.



  6. Right click on Fastener field and select Add Element.



  7. Add THREADED_CONNECTION as shown in the Fastener [0] field.



  8. Set 'Is Fastener Spec Driven' field to FALSE.



  9. Save the changes and verify the result in OpenPlant Modeler.
