Background

By default, server tree hierarchy is imposed on active tree of Item Browser in OpenPlant Modeler. This hierarchy enforces the items in the DGN tree to be grouped under their respective parent node such as Service & Unit as shown below.

This can be changed to group the components under their respective classes. There are different ways of achieving this in different versions which are listed in next section.

Steps to Accomplish

Settings in 08.11.09.440 & lower versions

1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler from desktop or Projectwise.
   
   
2. Go to Workspace > Preferences and select OpenPlant ModelServer category.
   
   
   
   
3. Go to DGN Tree Settings section and set 'Impose Server Tree Hierarchy' to False and click OK.
   
   
   
   
4. Check the Active Tree in Item Browser.

Settings in 08.11.09.568 & higher versions

In the latest version this setting is changed through configuration variable in OPMS.cfg file which is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\OpenPlantModeler\config\appl folder.

For Standalone mode

1. Open your project pcf file in the notepad and add below configuration variable.
   
   OPM_OPMS_SETTING_DISABLE_SERVER_TREE_HIERARCHY = 1
   
   
2. Save the changes in PCF file.
   
   
3. Exit from OpenPlant Modeler and reload it to verify the result.

Note: This will be a project specific change i.e. project where this variable is defined will have disabled server tree hierarchy.

For Managed workspace

1. Launch ProjectWise Administrator and login to your datasource.
2. Go to Project node and select project CSB.

3. In the CSB properties add new variable in the configuration tab.

   

4. Add the value '1' as shown below and click OK.
   
   
   
   
5. Click OK on all subsequent dialogs to apply the changes.
   
   
6. Reload OpenPlant Modeler and verify the result.
