How to Disable ProjectWise Desktop Integration with OpenPlant Modeler

      Applies To

      Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler
      Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX
      Environment:  Windows 7 (64 bit)
      Area:  ProjectWise
      Subarea:
Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

When we launch OpenPlant Modeler from desktop, below dialog appears to connect to ProjectWise which takes lot of time to enable us to cancel it and move further with application opening.

Steps given in below section would allow users to disable this dialog to appear while start up.

    Steps to Accomplish

    Change ProjectWise Installation:

    1. Go to Control Panel>Program and Features and select ProjectWise Explorer.

    2. Right click and select Change option to modify the installation.

    3. Click Next on the subsequent dialogs until you see below dialog.

    4. Click on 'iDesktop Integration' and select highlighted option.

    5. Click Next to complete the installation changes and launch OpenPlant Modeler to verify the result.

Note: This change will be applicable to all the applications in your machine.

    Without Changing ProjectWise Installation

If you don't want to change the ProjectWise installation and still want to disable desktop integration with ProjectWise then:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\OpenPlantModeler\config\appl folder.

    2. Open pw.cfg file in notepad.

    3. Remove the # sign before the highlighted variable and save it.
