How to Modify the Script to Add/Remove Folders in ProjectWise Template

      Applies To

      Product(s): AutoPlant Project Administrator, Projectwise
      Version(s): 08.11.09.140 +; 08.11.11.123 +
      Environment:  Windows 7 (64 bit)
      Area:  ProjectWise Integration
      Subarea:
Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

When AutoPlant project is integrated with ProjectWise there are many folders which are not required. User wanted to customize the script so that unwanted folders can be removed and required folder can be added which can be saved as Template for future datasources.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin folder.

    2. Locate SchemaFiles.zip file in this folder.

    3. Unzip this file in the same folder. You will see below files in it.

    4. Create test datasource in ProjectWise just for this task.

    5. Create a new environment in ProjectWise Administrator. This is CRITICAL.

    6. Now launch ProjectWise Import Wizard and login as an admin.

    7. Select highlighted option as shown below.

    8. Select Project\Folder option in next window.

    9. Click NEXT until you see this window.

    10. Browse the BPSFolders.dat file from C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\SchemaFiles. You may need to change the extension type to All Files (*.*) to see the required file.

    11. Click Next after selecting the file.

    12. Select ‘Manually exported folders’ node on the left side and select ‘Documents’ node on the right side.

    13. Click the forward button to move the folders and change the storage area.

    14. Click Import, you will see some errors with some warnings.

    15. Now check in ProjectWise Explorer if all the folders are imported.

    16. Now launch PW Export Wizard.

    17. Click Next on the welcome dialog.

    18. Login to your datasource.

    19. Select the Environment.

    20. Select the folders you wish to export and click NEXT.

    21. Click ‘Next’ button until you see below dialog. However, if you wish to export your managed workspace associations you could change the required settings in subsequent dialogs.

    22. Select the same file BPSFolders.dat for export.

    23. Click Export button and click Close.

    24. Go to Schema files folder. Select the files and Send to ‘Compressed Folder’ and name it SchemaFiles.zip.

    25. You will need to remove existing SchemaFiles.zip file out of the bin folder.
