To Add LookUp Value in Spec Grid during Placement of Component in OpenPlant Modeler

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler
    Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XX (SS6)
    Environment:  Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area:  OpenPlant Specification Generator
Subarea:  Lookup Value - Spec grid
Original Author: Rahul Kumar, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

In Specification Generator, to add look up value description in spec grid while placing a component in OpenPlant Modeler.

    Problem Description

With the use of Specification generator, user wanted to add a look up value on a property say MAT_GRADE and tries to Map the same on a new property in OpenPlant Modeler and wanted to display it in spec grid during placement to get a choice to select based on lookup values. Below steps describe adding a lookup value, mapping custom attribute (CA) on new property created, and defining the same in spec grid.

    Steps to Resolve

    1. Launch Specification Generator through OpenPlant Project Administrator.

    2. Select Project say OPModeler_Metric here.
    3. Open Spec mEX-OPM.
    4. Go to Section “PIPE”.
    5. Add constraint MAT_GRADE to Pipe section. See image below.

    6. Add Mat Grade using lookup value. See image below.

Note – To know more on adding lookup value click here>>>

    7. Save Spec.
    8. In Class Editor, Open "OpenPlant_3D.01.07 schema". See Image below.

Note - Navigate to working project path as shown below.
      (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Schemas)

    9. (Optional, select when dialog prompts) Locate a missing reference OpenPlant.01.07 for schema Openplant_3D.01.07. See image below.

      Note - Path to check - (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\OPModeler\schemas)

    10. Right click on "OpenPlant_3D.01.07 schema" & click on supplement Schema option.

    11. Using "Add" button, select Supplemental schema "OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07.ecschema" schema and click on "Open". See image below.

    12. (Optional If dialog appears) Click on "Open" for allowing to select Missing reference schema folder. User might need to click on multiple times till it locates all missing reference schema. See image below on how to navigate the correct folder path.

      Note - Path to check - (C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\OPModeler\schemas)

    13. Navigate to PIPING_COMPONENT class.
    14. Create a new property say MATERIAL_GRADE on it.

      1. To create a new Property, click on “ADD” or copy existing property and rename it. Here copy existing property MATERIAL.

      2. Scroll down to property list and do a right click to paste copied property. See image below.

      3. Rename it to MATERIAL_GRADE and modify its custom attribute like shown in below image.

Note – To know more on spec grid position, click here>>>

    15. Save & Close Schema.
    16. Launch OpenPlant Modeler.
    17. Place a Pipe and check Spec grid with Material Grade option to verify result.
