    How to Add Custom Menu and Properties in Generated Isometric in dwg Format

    Background

    Some project may have requirement to generate isometric that shows custom properties along with metadata. To get more details on mapping this custom properties, check link below which is readily available on internet.

    To map above mentioned properties, user need to fill in the data’s under custom tab. Following steps will aid user to get "Custom" menu in generated Isometric.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Go to project location.

      C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Plant V8i\Bentley Plant V8i Projects\SAMPLE_METRIC\Config\OpenPlant\Isometrics\styles\IFC\config\dwgdata

    2. Open “opimseed.dwg” file in AutoCAD.

    3. Run “PROPULATE” command.

    4. Click on “Edit Template” from command line to open “Edit Propulate Template” dialogue.

    5. Go File> Open, select correct template.prp file. 



      Note- by default custom properties stores in “template.prp” file. User can create new custom template.prp file using “New” option.

    6. Once template selected, user can see list of custom properties already defined in template.



    7. Click “OK”.

    8. And click “Update” in command line.

    9. This custom property will get added in “opimseed.dwg”.

    10. To verify, do a right click on opimseed.dwg and check “Properties”

    11. Generate isometric in DWG format and open isometric in AutoCAD.

    12. Run “PROPULATE” command.

    13. Click “Update” and select “Current” drawing option in command line.

    14. Close isometric. Check its custom properties by right clicking on it.

    Note- Above process can be Automated so that user do not need to run “PROPULATE” command manually. 

    1. Download “acaddoc.lsp” file.

    2. Save this file on below locationC:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD XXX\Support path.
       
    3. Open “acaddoc.lsp” in notepad and change "template.prp" file path



    4. Save the file.

    5. Generate isometric in dwg format.

    6. Open isometric in AutoCAD and save it.

    7. Right click on generated isometric and check custom property.
