Error "Tool not available in this file type" Appears in Message Center

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant PID
    Version(s): 08.11.10.XXX & Higher
    Environment: Windows 7/8/10 (64 bit)
    Area: Placement
    Subarea:
Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Problem Description

Sometimes below error appears in the message center when new/existing file is opened or when trying to place a component in the drawing.

Since this error message doesn't tell much about the actual problem so we will change the log level. Go to Workspace > Configuration and change the log level to -1 as shown below.

Again check the error in message center. As highlighted below, there is a problem in reading the schemas mentioned in error message.

    Steps to Resolve

    1. To further investigate open the 'OpenPlant_PID' schema in class editor. Below error message appears and schema doesn't open.

    2. Open the schema in NOTEPAD and find Bentley: Transform3D. Two entries are found in the schema with this keyword.

      In CABLE_CORE class

      In IO_CHANNEL

    3. Remove both entries from schema and save it.

    4. Again try to open the schema in class editor and supplement with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial schema. This time below error message appears while supplementing the schema.

    5. Open the schema in notepad and find 'PIPE_LINE_INSULATION_ANNOTATION'. This class is defined twice in the schema which is causing the issue.

    6. Delete below highlighted portion from schema and supplement again.

    7. Save the changes in schema and launch OpenPlant PID to verify the result.

    Still a Problem

If there is still some problem while trying to perform any operation against OpenPlant PID, then please create a Service Request and contact Bentley Product Advantage group along with the list of all relevant details to get in depth analysis and for possible solution or workarounds.
