To Place an Elbow with Trimmed Angle using Intelligent Line Manager

Overview

To create various angle trimmed elbow through Intelligent Line Manager (ILM).  

Background

User requirement is to place a various trimmed angle elbow, say 11.25/22.5 degrees using intelligent Line Manager option present under Piping tab in OpenPlant Modeler. Intelligent Line Manager lets you create intelligent centerlines from line segments and smart lines, and populate those lines with OpenPlant components. While using this feature it generates the drawing like shown in below image.

To populate the fittings automatically below are the steps to follow.  

Steps to Accomplish

  1. To facilitate the feature of trim angle to populate automatically using Intelligent Line Manager, user need to ensure the entry of corresponding data in spec.
  2. Check default spec, say mEX-OPM and list out the entries. See images below.



  3. Once above entries get validated, user is ready to route a line as per spec.
  4. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, Select Project say OPModeler_Metric here.
  5. Create a line using smart line option present under drawing tab.



  6. Draw line as shown in below image. 



  7. Select Click on Intelligent Line Manager from Piping tab. 



  8. From Intelligent Line Manager dialog, select options selected as per below image shown. 


    Note – Take a note that Place Trimmed Elbow option should be checked ON, otherwise it creates a segment without elbows.
  9. Click on Generate & then Populate line.
  10. It will create a pipeline along with elbow of trim angle 11.25 & 22.5 degree.
