How to Populate Document Description on Valve Properties

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant PID
    Version(s): 08.11.10.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XXX (SS6)
    Environment:  Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)

    Subarea:  Cascade
Original Author: Harpreet Singh, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

Requirement is to populate document's description on valves placed in the drawing. This can be achieved by making changes into the schema using class editor.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Launch class editor and load OpenPlant_PID schema. This schema is generally located in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantPID (SS6)\WorkSpace\Projects\%PROJECT_NAME%\Dataset\schemas folder.

    2. Supplement it with OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial schema.

    3. Go to VALVE class and switch to properties tab.

    4. In properties tab, locate DESCRIPTION property and click Override button.

    5. Click Custom Attributes... button to add new custom attribute on this property.

    6. Add "Calculated ECProperty Specification" custom attribute from the list.

    7. Change the location of custom attribute by clicking on the location field and select OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial schema.

    8. In the EC Expression field add below expression and add the values for other fields as shown below.

    9. Save the changes in schema and verify result in OpenPlant PID.

Note: Description property on valve may not update while placement and you will see failure value. Once the valve is placed then check the element information.
