Overview

To show all bolt records, present in spec database of particular constraint.

Problem Description

In OpenPlant Modeler, user wants to select bolt records from spec database. Currently in OpenPlant Modeler calculated bolt records show as joint insertion item. Here requirement is to show all the bolt records present in spec database to manually select bolt records. This article explains, to show all bolt records of specific sizes present in spec database for LUG_JOINT.

As shown in below example, user is placing weld neck flange with butterfly valve of following standard constraints.

Weld Neck Flange - Main Size =150mm, Rating=150LB, End Cond 1 = FL, End Cond 2 = BW & Facing = FF (Flat Face)

Butterfly Valve- Main Size =150mm, Rating =150LB, End Cond 1 & 2 = LUG & Facing = FF (Flat Face)

During placement of arrangement, joint insertion items are appended for gasket & bolt. Notice number of machine bolt records as shown below.

Currently bolt records are showing as per calculation, hence showing two records. However, in spec database machine bolt have total four records as shown below.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Open your project.pcf file in notepad from following root.

  2. Search variable “OPM_QUERY_BOLTS_WITH_IGNORE_LENGTH” & set its value from 0 to 1 as shown below.

    OPM_QUERY_BOLTS_WITH_IGNORE_LENGTH = 1

  3. Save all the changes.
  4. Launch Bentley Class Editor.
  5. Open OpenPlant_3D.01.07. ecschema of your particular project.
  6. Supplement with OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07. ecschema & OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_ModelingViews.01.07. ecschema.

  7. Navigate to Joint class, search LUG_JOINT, remove defined scripts as shown below.

  8. After removing defined scripts, LUG_JOINT type will be as shown below.

  9. Save all the changes & verify the result as shown below.
