How to update spec data in existing valves in OpenPlant PID

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant PID
    Version(s): 08.11.11.XXX (SS6R)
    Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area: Manipulation

    Background

When valve is placed on Pipe-Run, which uses required specification, it will inherit spec data from Pipe-Run speciation. Later some records in Spec are modified and user would like to update the valves with modified data. This article will explain the methods to update the valves with modified records from specification.

For example, in below image, Ball Valve is placed in drawing whose manufacturer is JAM and later on the manufacturer is changed to Bentley and this has to be updated in drawing.

    Steps to accomplish

The Refresh from Spec Record Data option lets the user update existing valves in a drawing with updated information from the spec. It displays in the pop up menu when a valve placed from the spec is selected.

This option can be used for a mass selection of components or on a per component basis.  The command will only refresh components in the selection which were actually placed from the spec.

Note that the component had to have been placed from a spec for the menu option to display.

To update existing valves, there are two methods:

    Method 1

Select each valve manually by using CTRL key in keyboard. Once all valves are selected, right click and select “Refresh from record data”.

Now, Check manufacturer name in element info dialog.

    Method 2:

If there are number of valves and it is not possible to select each valve manually using CTRL key then follow below mentioned steps.

    1. Go to Item Browser (Tool Bar) as shown below.

    2. Select ‘Select’ arrow icon.

    3. Click on search option as shown below

    4. Now, Search dialog box will open, there is drop down menu ‘Search For’.

    5. Select drop down arrow and click on <Multiple types of items>

    6. Add and Remove dialog box will open, Select all Valves which you want to update from specs and click OK as shown below

    7. Click on ‘Include all items in Sub_types’ ( right side of ‘search for option’ ) and click OK on search dialog box, Now all items which were selected are grouped in Items.

    8. Expand last node (+), select first valve and by using ‘shift key’ select last Valve. As you can see below Valves are selected/highlighted now, close Item dialog box

    9. Right click and select “Refresh from spec Record Data” option from context menu.

Now, check in element info manufacturer name is updated.
