Overview

To Create Elbow fitting with Clamp length in OpenPlant Modeler.

Problem Description

User requirement is to place an elbow along with clamp length say A, B like displayed in below image.

With latest SS6 release of OpenPlant Modeler, there is a provision to facilitate the clamp length/tangent length to elbow arm length by keeping the same elbow radius. Below steps will aid user to achieve the desired results.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Navigate to specs database folder & open a spec to update entries for ELBOW table. Say mEX-OPM spec in this case.

Note – A fundamental knowledge of MS Access data handling should require here.

  2. Go to Table ELBOW and check for field Radius.
  3. Copy paste one row for elbow size DN100 and elbow class as LONG_RADIUS_90_DEGREE_PIPE_ELBOW.
  4. Enter radius value by considering R/D=1.5, i.e. 152.4.
  5. Also, as desired or table supplied by catalogs, enter the extra length/clamp length value, say 100MM on each side. i.e. 404.8 for both CTR_END_M & CTR_END_R value. See image below.

  6. Close & save file.
  7. Launch OpenPlant Modeler.
  8. Select spec mEX-OPM with size DN100. Select modified record from spec grid.

  9. CTR_END_M & CTR_END_R field in spec is mapped with property Design Length Center to Outlet End & Design length center to Run End. See image below after placement of elbow, its measured length and data.
