To put Catalogs and Specs in a different folder out of default WorkSpace

    Background

OpenPlant Modeler by default stores its Specs at the following path 'C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Specs Databases' and stores its Catalogs at 'C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\DataSet\Catalogs Databases'.

In OpenPlant Modeler, sometimes it could be the modeler's choice or as per project specific requirement it has been envisioned to put the folder containing the Specs and the folder containing Catalogs, out of the WorkSpace folder, at some other location.

Below are the steps to achieve the same configuration within Open Plant Modeler.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Navigate to working Project Folder. Say OPModeler_Metric See image below for reference

    2. Browse to DataSet. See image below for reference

    3. Copy the Specs Databases folder and paste it to a different location; say C:\Users\%user_name%\Desktop\Test
    4. Copy the Catalogs Databases folder and paste it to the different location; say C:\Users\%user_name%\Desktop\Test
    5. Browse to the working Projects folder. See image below for reference

    6. Open the Project's PCF file in Notepad; here say OPModeler_Metric.pcf
    7. Search for OPM_DIR_SPECS. See image below for reference

    8. Change the value of OPM_DIR_SPECS to the path of the new Spec folder; here say C:\Users\Kunal.Kiran\Desktop\Test\Specs Databases. (here %user_name% is Kunal.Kiran) See image below for reference

    9. Save the file and exit
    10. Browse to the new Spec location and open a Spec
    11. Go to the Table SpecCatalogs. See image below for reference

    12. Change the records for CatalogFilePath fields to point to the new location of the catalogs. See image below for reference

    13. Save the file
    14. Launch OpenPlant Modeler and verify results.
