How to Upgrade Older AutoPLANT Version Project

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPLANT Modeler
    Version(s): 08.11.13.XXX (SS8)
    Environment:  Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area:  Tools
    Subarea:
Original Author: Kestutis Mitkus, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

When the user wants to package his project which was created in AutoPLANT Plant Design SS4 version and unpackage it in latest AutoPLANT Modeler SS8 version.

    Pre-V8i (SELECTseries 8) (v8.11.13) Project Upgrades

All Pre-V8i (SELECTseries 8) projects must be upgraded to V8i (SELECTseries 8) using the “Integrity Checker” tools within Project Administrator V8i (SELECTseries 8).

    • Start Project Administrator V8i (SELECTseries 8) and select Edit > Preferences.
    • Click on the Integrity Check tab.
    • Tick Enable Integrity Check Engine Globally. See Help for descriptions of other Integrity Check options.

    • Click the OK button and then select the project to upgrade in the project root tree.
    • Project Administrator V8i now performs an Integrity Check on the selected project.

    • If you have enabled the Integrity Report option, the integrity check results can be viewed by doubling clicking the file <project name>\Integrity.xml.
    • Now right click on the project to upgrade in the project root tree and pick Upgrade > From Integrity Check Results.
    • Project Administrator V8i now upgrades the selected project to allow work to be undertaken using the AutoPLANT V8i (SELECTseries 8) applications.

Note: To complete the upgrade you must update the Project.mdb link tables as follows:
      • Open the upgraded project via Data Manager or I&W.
      • From the pull-down menu pick Tools > Database Tools.

      • Select the option to Check and Update Link Tables as below.

Note: Individual projects in a multi-project database cannot be upgraded individually. The Project Administrator should upgrade all the projects in a multi-project database before work commences on any of these projects with V8i (SELECTseries 8) applications.

Note: Upgrading individual (single database) project in project roots that contain many projects is possible. Therefore new V8i projects, upgraded V8i and pre-V8i projects can coexist in the same project root.

2004 Edition (v8.6) and XM (v8.9) Project Upgrades

All pre-V8i legacy projects must be upgraded to V8i (SELECTseries 8) using the From Base Template option found by right-clicking a project within Project Administrator V8i (SELECTseries 8). This project upgrade must be carried out before any project work is undertaken using the V8i (SELECTseries 8) applications.

Opening a 2004 Edition or XM project with the V8i (SELECTseries 8) applications without the project being upgraded has not been certified.

Steps to upgrade the project are as under:

    • Start Project Administrator V8i (SELECTseries 8)
    • Select the pre-V8i project
    • Right-click and pick Upgrade > From Base Template
      • Or go to File > Upgrade > From Base Template
    • Project Administrator will now upgrade the selected project to allow work to be undertaken using AutoPLANT V8i (SELECTseries 8) applications.

Note: To complete the upgrade you must update the Project.mdb link tables as follows:

    • Open the upgraded project via Data Manager or I&W.
    • From the pull-down menu pick Tools > Database Tools.

    • Select the option to Check and Update Link Tables as below.
