How to Leave Custom Length Value after using Change Spec / Change Size Option

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler
    Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XXX (SS6)
    Environment:  Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area:  Settings/Attributes
    Subarea: -
Original Author: Kestutis Mitkus, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Overview

In OpenPlant Modeler, various options are designed to use component data from Specifications, but sometimes there are cases where there is no need to use .

    Problem Description

In OpenPlant Modeler we place Inline Piping Component and then changing its Length. When we will try to change components Size using Spec/Size change option, it will Automatically change component length to the value which is written in COMP_LEN field of specification. Such behavior is not useful for user who have modeled large Piping systems and after any size change they will be forced to go and try modify each Inline Component manually.

    Steps to Resolve

    1. Launch the Bentley Class Editor and open the following schemas.

      OpenPlant_3D.01.07.ecschema.xml  (%ProjectRoot%...\WorkSpace\    Projects\OPModeler_Metric\ DataSet\Schemas\).

      Supplement With,OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07. ecschema.xml (%ProjectRoot%...\WorkSpace\Projects\OPModeler_Metric\ DataSet \ Schemas\).

For More information on supplementing schema click here>>>>

    2. Search for Inline Pipe Component class, select on Properties section, LENGTH property and scroll till OpenPlant_Physical_Catalogue_Property_Map custom attribute.

Verify, that system is always checking COMP_LEN value on specification and this is the cause of such OpenPlant behavior.

    3. Select to Add/Remove Custom Attributes. Then in opened dialog, remove existing OpenPlant_Physical_Catalogue_Property_Map  and add Default value

Input some standard Default value which always will be used while placing new Inline Pipe Component, but wont be used anymore while using Change Spec / Size option.

    4. Save & Close Schema.
    5. Launch OpenPlant Modeler, place any Generic Pipe Component and modify its Length

    6. Now use Spec / Size change option to modify its Size from 100 to 125

    7. Save the settings and verify the result as shown below.

All procedure of how to do it can be checked in this video below
