How to Use Display Label as Property Value in OpenPlant Modeler

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler
    Version(s):

    08.11.09.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XX (SS6)

    Environment:  Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit)
    Area:  OpenPlant Modeler
    Subarea:  Standard Preference
Original Author: Deepak Singh,Bentley Product Advantage Group

In OpenPlant Modeler requirement is to use display label as property value. Such requirement arises when user wants to pick values from look up value map whose values contains numeric value as prefix.

    Background

In OpenPlant Modeler, when a property value is fetched using lookup value map pointer it picks the defined name. Problem arises when requirement is to have a property name that contains numeric value as prefix e.g. 01-Drain Line. In such scenario OpenPlant Modeler doesn’t accept this property name. Below wiki article explains how to use display label as property value in OpenPlant Modeler.

    For Example

    AREA_VALUE_MAP

Notice that display label for properties start with a numeric value. These display label should enlist for property “DEMO_AREA” as its properties value to drop down

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Launch Bentley Class Editor.
    2. Open OpenPlant_3D.01.07. ecschema of respective project from mentioned directory.

    3. Supplement with OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Modeling.01.07.ecschema & OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_ModelingViews.01.07.ecschema.

For More information on supplementing schema Click Here >>>>

    4. Navigate to PIPING_COMPONENT class, switch to Properties tab & create a new property as DEMO_AREA.

    5. Right click on created property & select Custom Attributes > Add/Remove to add custom attributes.

    6. From Add/Remove Custom Attributes dialog, select Extend Type, Lookup Value Map Pointer & Standard Preference. Using down arrow add mentioned custom attributes to Applied Custom Attribute Ensure that schema location for applied custom attributes has been changed as shown below.

Note: AREA_VALUE_MAP is already created to value map list.

    7. For applied custom attributes, enter details as shown below.

      Lookup Value Map Pointer

      Extend Type
      Name: LOOKUP_VALUE_MAP_USE_DISPLAY_LABEL

      Standard Preference

    8. Save all the changes & verify result in OpenPlant Modeler.

Notice that in Standard Preference, display labels are enlisting as properties values instead of name
