How do I find out what Operating Systems AutoPLANT supports?

One the download page, along with Product name and Version, there is a column that lists the Windows Operating System Versions that are supported. If it does not specifically state 64 bit, then 64 bit is not supported.

How can I view AutoPLANT files without using AutoCAD?

Bentley View and Bentley Navigator will view and plot AutoPLANT models. Bentley View is a no cost viewer that is available from Bentley's product web page here: http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/Bentley+View/

What is briefcase mode?

Briefcase mode is an unofficial term that refers to the state in which a drawing is accessed using Drawing Access Mode. Opening a drawing using a configuration rather than a project is considered "Briefcase mode".

How does briefcase mode work?

Briefcase mode simply allows users to open and edit a drawing apart from the project while retaining intelligence. Simply copy the DWG to a local machine that does not have access to the project. When opening the drawing in AutoPLANT Piping, the user will be prompted to open it in a project or configuration. Open it in a configuration with the appropriate units.

How do I optimize AutoPLANT Piping?

There are several factors that substantially affect performance:

  1. Hardware. Please see the README1ST.HTM provided with each install for minimum requirements. However, the more memory and better graphics card installed, the better the performance.
  2. AutoCAD settings. VIEWPORTS, SHADEMODE and CLIPPING are a few AutoCAD features that will affect performance. While shaded multiple 3D views may make modeling easier, there may be performance issues especially if a user is running on the bare minimum for hardware. Some functions that may be affected are open/save, redraw and switching views. 2D Wireframe Shademode is best for speed especially with large models.
  3. System files. To ensure that applications have been installed in the proper order, go to the menu: Piping > Help > About... and select the "System Info" button. Highlight PDW and select OK to search for conflicts.

Since AutoPLANT Plant Design Workgroup XM Edition does not include Bentley Explorer, what do I use to view review and publish AutoPLANT Piping models?

Bentley Navigator is the recommended software to use with AutoPLANT Piping models. Using this tool with the application Imodel Composer, there is the ability to publish to a single file with intelligence for client review.
