How Do I Allow Two Users To Access The Spec At The Same Time [TN]

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPLANT Piping, Equipment, Isometrics
    Version(s): AutoPLANT V8i 08.11.05.36
    Environment:  N/A
    Area:  N/A
    Subarea:  N/A
Original Author: Derek Cornell, Bentley Technical Support Group

    Overview

In certain network settings, the MDB spec file is locked when a user is in AutoPLANT Piping. This prevents other users from accessing the spec from the Component Preferences toolbar. This is a technote showing what settings to change.

    Solution

The first thing that you need to do when intending to use a Microsoft Access database in a shared environment is to put it in shared mode. This can be done by using the following steps:

    1. Open MS Access.
    2. Select the menu: Tools > Options, which opens the Options dialog box:
    3. Click on the Advanced tab if it is not already showing and make your way to the Default Open Mode selection box.
    4. Check the 'shared' option as shown above.

This will then open all databases in shared mode by default. This means that you don't have to go through this exercise every time you create/open a new database.

Note: The dialog looks a little different in MS Access 2007 but the option is still there in the advanced tab. Make sure this is checked on each workstation.

      Respected Bentley Team,

Already in  our MS-access , the  'Default Open Mode' option is set to 'shared'  then also our engineers are not able to used/open by 2  user or multi user.

Please let me know any other seting to be done in MS-access other than this.

Also want to know that if, at a time 2 user open the access file then can it be update/edit by same 2 or multi user?

      Waiting for your reply.....
