How to Create WorkSpace & WorkSet in OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition

Using OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition, requirement is to create WorkSpace & Workset for desired installed applications.

Background

With the help of OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition, desired WorkSpace & WorkSet can be created for selected set of Bentley applications like OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition, OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition, OpenPlant Orthographics Manager CONNECT Edition and OpenPlant Support Engineering CONNECT Edition. This wiki article explains creation of WorkSpace & WorkSet using OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator CONNECT Edition.



  2. Click on Configuration ribbon as shown below.



  3. Notice that default configuration path points to “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration”. Select default configuration path as shown below.



    Please note that hierarchy for creation of WorkSpace & WorkSet is in order as shown below.


    This means, for creation of any WorkSpace, Configuration is required. Similarly, for creation of any WorkSet, WorkSpace is required.
  1. With desired configuration path as selected, from WorkSpace ribbon, click on Create as shown below.



  2. In OpenPlant WorkSpace Creation Wizard, click on Next, refer image below.



  3. Enter desired name & description for WorkSpace name, as shown below.



    Name:   Enter desired name for WorkSpace.
    Description: Enter desired description for WorkSpace name.
    WorkSpace Root: WorkSpace root can be defined as desired location. Be default, workspace root resides to mentioned path as shown below.

    “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\WorkSpace\”

    To create desired WorkSpace root, click on ellipsis (three dots) & select desired location. Refer image below.



    Application will ask for “Browse For Folder”. Select/Create desired folder at desired location & click OK, once done.

    WorkSets Folder: The provided name will be the parent folder for all created WorkSets. By default, WorkSets is the given the name. Refer image below.



  4. When all desired fields have been valued, click on Next as shown below.



  5. WorkSpace creation will be started and successfully created message be seen as illustrated below. Click on Finish.



  6. Click on WorkSpace folder, notice that created WorkSpace starts enlisting as shown below.



  7. Click on created WorkSpace.
  8. From WorkSet ribbon, click on Create to create new WorkSet as shown below.



  9. In OpenPlant WorkSet Creation Wizard, click on Next to create a new WorkSet as shown below.



  10. Enter desired WorkSet name & select desired unit for the workset.
  11. Once desired parameters are valued, click on Next.



  12. Select desired set of applications for whom this created workset will be shared or used. Click on Next once done.



  13. WorkSet creation started and a successfully created message can be seen as illustrated below. Click on Finish.



  14. Click on created Workspace or Configuration root to reflect the name of created WorkSet.
  15. Notice that created WorkSet can be seen along with list of associated application. This means that this workset is enabled for only these two applications.



    Please note that based on selected application list, icons of those applications can be seen under created workset. However, for further interaction with application those application must be installed to the workstation/machine.
