    Overview

There are a few issues that users may run into when upgrading ProjectWise from 8.11.5 to 8.11.7 when AutoPLANT is integrated with it. This TechNote goes over these issues and recommends some workarounds for these issues.

    ProjectWise Login Error

When attempting to log into an integrated project in Project Administrator, the following error message may appear.

    • ProjectWise Login Error - USer '  ' has not been associated with a group within the ProjectWise Server.  ProjectWise group is required in order to determine user rights within AutoPLANT

This message is also followed by a a few other errors either stating similar errors or failure to connect to the Project.  These errors are shown because the 8.11.7 release of ProjectWise had changes in how it handles passwords which does not work with AutoPLANT 8.9.4/8.11.5/8.11.6 Integration. To fix this, in the Installation notes of ProjectWise's ReadMe is a section called 'AutoPLANT projects'. This section gives a way to allow the AutoPLANT 8.9.4/8.11.5/8.11.6 releases to work with the 8.11.7 ProjectWise. Here is what is mentioned in the ReadMe -

    AutoPLANT projects
To enable support in ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 1) for existing AutoPLANT V8i and AutoPLANT XM Edition projects, you must add the variable, LoginTokenUseLegacyCrypto=1, to the ProjectWise Integration Server's dmskrnl.cfg file under the [TeamMate] section.

     Unable to find SchemaFiles.zip

When integrating a new project after doing the upgrade, some users may come across a message that reports the 'SchemaFiles.zip' is missing or can not be found. This file is one of AutoPLANT's files that is used to setup the template information for the integration. It is placed into the ProjectWise install folder under the Bin folder. This file will be removed if the user manually removes the old ProjectWise folders from their machine. The trouble comes from the fact that this file is installed by AutoPLANT and not ProjectWise, so removing it from this location and just installing the new version of ProjectWise does NOT restore this file.

The user has two possible workaround for this issue. The first would be to run a Repair install on the AutoPLANT Application after the new ProjectWise Application is installed. For the XM release, the user only needs to repair the 8.9.4.47 Framework install and the Plant XM ProjectWise V8i Integration Patch(which is required to run AutoPLANT XM with ProjectWise V8i). Another option would be to back this file up before removing it or copying it from another machine that has yet to be upgraded and then place this file back in the Bin folder under the ProjectWise install folder after the new version has been installed.
