How to Import Cable List into BRCM CONNECT

Product(s): Bentley Raceway and cable Management
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Cable List Import
      Subarea: N/A

    Overview

Cable List import is not necessarily a required step, as cable connections can be defined manually using Cable Manager, but Cable Manager will not allow you to create cables in bulk, only one cable at a time. Therefore, Cable List import method is preferred when the user needs to add multiple cable connections.

Minimum data field requirements for cable list import include: Cable Tag, Cable Type, Voltage/Routing Level, Equipment From, and Equipment To.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Ensure that Equipment.dgn file is open. If not, register the current open .dgn file as equipment from Document Manager.

    2. From the Equipment & Cable ribbon tab, select Cable List Import.

CableList_Power.xls: XLS file (XLS file contains the cable data that will be imported)
IMPORT_CableList_Power.xml: XML file (XML file is an import configuration & column mapping file.

    3. In the XLS-Import dialog, set the following file fields using the Browse button. Press OK.

    4. The XLS-Import dialog will be populated with same data as below image.
Select OK to proceed to next step in the import process.

    5. Collaboration Manager opens and a request lock is automatically applied to Voltage/Routing Levels found in the import file.
Select OK to proceed to next step.

    6. Items available for import will appear in the Review Differences dialog.
Select items to import using Select All, then select Accept to set Change column value to Accepted.

    7. Select Update to complete the import process.

    8. Repeat above process to import any cable list data.

      XLS file: CableList_Voltagelevel.xls
      XML file: IMPORT_CableList_Voltagelevel.xml
