How to Import Equipment UDAs using Equipment Import Tool

Product(s): Bentley Raceway and Cable Management
    Version(s): 10.04.00.31
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Equipment UDAs
    Subarea: N/A

    Background

A new feature in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management (BRCM) Update 4 enables you to import the equipment UDAs and their values while importing equipment lists using the Equipment import tool.

In previous versions, the user needed to select the UDA and its value while modifying the equipment every time. This became a very time consuming job if you had a large quantity of equipment with different UDA values for them.

With this new feature, you can easily add the UDAs into an Excel sheet and import them using the Equipment import tool.

This document provides the steps to import equipment UDAs.

    Steps To Accomplish-

    1. Modify the equipment import Excel file as shown below.
Add four columns: Equipment Name, Node ID, UDA Name, UDA Value.
Add the UDA names and UDA values in the respective columns,

Note: We can only import the UDAs which are defined in the dataset. To check the available UDAs navigate to the Standard dataset folder and check CFG_EQPModeler.xml file
      \\Configuration\Workspaces\WorkSpace Name\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\equipment

You can add required UDAs from Manage>>Options>>UDA Settings>>Equipment UDAs dialog.

Here the parameter Node ID in the import file represents the level of equipment objects/parts. As shown in the image below the levels are defined according to equipment object positions.
Hence UDAs can be defined at each level of equipment using this feature.

    1. The respective IMPORT_Equipment.xml file also needs to be modified according to the changes done in the Excel file.
These modifications are to define the respective columns and the tag of the parameters. The XML file is mapping the equipment list so that the software understands how to import the information.

    2. Open Equipment DGN file (file registered as equipment) and select the Equipment and cable Click on the Equipment import tool and select your equipment Excel file and respective XML fileand click OK.
Confirm the start and end row values to ensure they match the range of your data.

    3. In the Review Differences dialog, select all equipment and choose Accept and Update.

    4. After successful import, all the equipment will be imported to the DGN file with their associated UDAs and IDs.

To check UDAs for any equipment select the Equipment and Cable ribbon and click on Equipment properties. Select the equipment and Equipment Manager dialog will open. Select the object level and review the UDA and its values.

Similarly for the next levels :
