Product(s): Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT
      Version(s): 10.04.00.31
      Environment: N\A
      Area: I-model
      Subarea: N/A

    Background

In the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, it is possible to import data from the i-model. There are two possibilities to import data from i-model:

    1. Import from OpenUtilities Substation (Formerly known as Bentley Substation).
    2. Import from OpenPlant Modeler.

In the i-model import from OpenUtilities Substation, it is possible to import equipment and cable information if the equipment and cable connections exist in the OpenUtilities Substation i-model.

In the i-model import from OpenPlant Modeler, it is possible to import only the equipment with equipment ID’s and positions into Bentley Raceway and Cable Management.

This article will describe the procedure to import the i-model file into Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Launch Bentley Raceway and Cable Management.

    2. Open DGN file which is register as a 3D Model, Equipment.

    3. Attach the i-model file created by OpenUtilities Substation or OpenPlant Modeler as the reference in Reference Manager.

Note: If you attached multiple i-model files in the reference manager, it will import data from the 1st i-model file in the reference manager.

    4. Click on the iModel Import tool in the Equipment & Cable Tab.

    5. The i-model Import dialog will be displayed. You need to select the source of the i-model as given below:

      A. If the model is created using the OpenUtilities Substation select a source of Substation/Promis.e (Electrical Schema).
      B. If the model is created using OpenPlant Modeler, then select a source of OpenPlant Modeler (OpenPlant 3D schema).

    6. The i-model Import dialog will open. Click OK.
    7. In the Collaboration Manager, Select the voltage levels you wish to import and request a lock for them. Click OK.

Note: Voltage levels which do not exists in the i-model will automatically set with lock <none>.

    8. The Review Differences dialog will open with new cable and equipment entries into the database. Click Select All, Accept and Update.

    9. Once the cable and equipment list is imported, click OK.

    10. The Equipment Manager dialog will open.

    11. Select the type of Equipment you wish to place for each equipment item found (For Example: Junction Box) and click OK.

    12. The selected equipment will automatically place in the model.

For Example: As shown below, Junction boxes are automatically placed as a connector to equipment located in the referenced i-Model with the equipment tags.

    13. Click Update Database.
