How to determine the Raceway ID responsible for Cable Routing failure.

Background

 

Bentley Raceway and Cable Management (BRCM) provides an enhanced feature to display the Raceway ID responsible for cable routing failures.
To know the Raceway ID that caused the routing failure , Calculate Optimized Route and Routing Diagnostics options available in the Cable Manager needs to be enabled.

When Routing Diagnostics are enabled the Raceway ID responsible for the routing failure can be known by displaying a message in the info property.
Hence, because of this enhanced feature it easier to find the remedy for the cable routing failures.

Steps To Accomplish-

1. Launch the application and open Routing DGN file.
Note: Open an already routed DGN file. For detailed steps to perform automatic routing refer to this link.




2. In Equipment & Cable tab , open the Cable Manager.





3.In the cable manager right click to select all the cables for performing the automatic routing.





4.Right Click and open the Routing Manager.




5.In the Routing manager , right click and check Calculate Optimized Route and Routing Diagnostics, click on Automatic Routing to autoroute all the selected cables.





6.After automatic routing gets completed , the info dialog displays the successful and failed cables.Two Cables have failed the auto-routing. Click Ok to view the information of the auto-routing.





7.In the Routing Manager, click on the cable where auto-routing has failed.
In this instance the auto-routing has failed, and the info property displays the message – ‘Raceway capacity exceeded with no alternative route found. Please consider changing the raceway size or adding additional raceway to accommodate those cables. (MV/CH-1)’ .
The MV/CH-1 displayed is the Raceway ID responsible for the cable routing failure.
