Background

Place SmartLine is a MicroStation tool, it can be used in Bentley Raceway & Cable Management in order to generate Raceway systems by using Raceway Generator tool.

You can create a separate raceway drawing with smart line placed where the raceway system is needed to be drafted or you can work in the main raceway drawing.
This drawing can be used as a reference by other users and with the help of raceway generator tool and raceway property tool, a raceway system can be automatically generated.

The raceway generator tool can reduce the design efforts and time spent on the project.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Launch Bentley Raceway & Cable Management and create a new drawing, name it as desired and register the DGN content as 3D Model, Raceway.
   For example RW_line.dgn.
   
   
   
2. Now, navigate to the place SmartLine tool from the Common Tools ribbon group.
   
   
   
3. A place SmartLine settings dialog will open, you can change the settings as required.
   Let us continue with the default settings.
   
   Note: You can draw a SmartLine or an Arc as per the design requirements.
   
   
4. Now, we can draw an example raceway model with the smartline.
   From the AccuDraw input focus, the design dimensions and raceway elevation and angles can be set.
   
   
   
5. Update database and open the main raceway DGN.
   
   
   
6. Now, we will reference the RW_Line.dgn.
   Navigate to the raceway tab and select references from the Primary ribbon group.
   
   
   
7. Select attach reference from the references dialog, select the raceway_line.dgn from the dialog and press open.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
8. Select the raceway generator tool from the raceway tab and then Select the lines that represent a raceway layout and click anywhere on the screen.
   
   
   
9. Raceway properties dialog will get open, from this you can select the raceway systems, voltage level, cable laying method and other customization required.
   
   
   
10. From the preferences tab, you can also change the fittings for bends, crossovers and tees as per the design requirements.
    
    
    
11. Press Ok in Raceway Properties dialog and you will see the raceway generated automatically accoding to the desired properties and parts preferences.
