How to use the Auto Place Conduit tool for equipment with different raceway voltage connections

Product(s): Bentley Raceway and Cable Management
    Version(s): 10.04.00.31
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Raceway Design
    Subarea: Auto Place Conduit tool

    Background

Sometimes equipment needs to connect to different raceway systems of different voltage levels.

By definng a new UDA called Conduit Connections on the equipment we can assist the AutoPlace Conduit Tool in being able to generate multiple conduits for each voltage level at one time. We can provide the details of the conduit voltage level and diameter in the value of the UDA.
This article will provide steps to use the Auto Place Conduit tool in case of equipment with multiple voltage level connections.

    Steps To Accomplish

    1. Open the raceway DGN file or the file which is registered as 3D Model Raceway.
Route some raceways of different voltage levels.
Alternatively, you can register the test DGN file as 3D Model Equipment * Raceway and place raceway and equipment in the same file.

    2. Open Equipment DGN file. Navigate to Manage ribbon and click on the Options The Options dialog will open, go to the UDA Settings pane and Equipment UDAs tab.
A new UDA Conduit Connection is added.

    3. Navigate to the Equipment & Cable ribbon tab and open the Equipment Manager.
In the Equipment Manager Click on Create/Modify Equipment and open the desired equipment.

    4. For the selected equipment click on the last ellipses button to add the UDA.
Edit Equipment Attributes dialog will open. Select the UDA Conduit Connection from the end of the list and click OK.

    5. Provide the UDA value with the details of conduits in the following format where each conduit and voltage level is delimited by a # sign.:

      “Conduit Catalog,variant,voltage level#Conduit Catalog,Varient,Voltage Level#............... ”

      For instance:
      Generic Conduit,50mm,LV#Generic Conduit,50mm,MV#Generic Conduit,50mm,CTRL

    6. Before placing Conduit be sure that the object size is large enough to connect the conduits.

    7. Place the Equipment at desired locations near the raceway.

    8. Back to Raceway DGN file to use AutoPlace Conduit tool.
Navigate to Raceway ribbon and in Cable tray & Conduits section click on the ‘AutoPlace Conduit’ tool.

    9. Provide the required offset distance and virtual connection length.

Offset From Raceway: Vertical distance of conduit from the raceway
Virtual Connection Length: Length of virtual connection/air gap from the Conduit to Raceway.

      Select the raceways and equipment.

    10. The AutoPlace Conduit tool will generate the conduit connections as required with correct voltage levels.
