In OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT Edition, the requirement is to change the device type code.

Background

In OpenPlant Modeler CE, in a project if the user wants to change the device type code for the class, then it is possible by defining the required changes in the schema. This Wiki explains how to change the same. Let’s take an example for Equipment class. Here we will change the device code for the vessel (child class) under equipment (Parent class). By default, the code for a vessel is shown below

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch Bentley class Editor.

  2. For the desired workset location, Select OpenPlant3D.01.08 schema & click on Open to load the schema. Supplement the loaded schema with Supplemental schemas.

Refer the attached Wiki link to know, How to Load & Supplement Schema in Bentley Class Editor   Link >>

  3. From search option, search for Vessel class.

  4. From properties tab, search for device type code & add custom attribute as shown

  5. Add default value as a custom attribute, give the schema location & hit ok as shown

  6. In added attribute, give the desired name in value ( Here Vessel) as shown

  7. Save the schema changes.

  8. To verify the results, relaunch OpenPlant Modeler Application.

  9. Place any type of vessel & check the properties as shown

Notice that the value for device type code is changed to “Vessel” from “V” which is the default one.

Note: Users can follow the same procedure to change the device type code for various classes like Valves, Instruments, Piping components etc.
