How to place pipeline Tag to pipe run automatically in OpenPlant PID CONNECT Edition.

    Applies To
    Product(s): OpenPlant PID
    Version(s):

    CONNECT Edition 10.07.00.32

    Environment:  Windows 8.1/10 (64-bit)
    Area:  Data Manager
    Subarea:  Tag Information
Original Author: Shubham Sawant, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

In OpenPlant PID CE, the requirement is to place the pipeline tag to the pipe run automatically. This wiki article explains the procedure for how to do achieve the same requirement. By default, the tag is placed manually when we select piping annotation from piping > piping galleries as shown

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Launch Bentley Class Editor CONNECT Edition.

    2. For the desired workset location, Select OpenPlant_PID.01.08 schema & click on Open to load the schema. Supplement the loaded schema with Supplemental schemas.

Refer to the attached Wiki link to know, How to Load & Supplement Schema in Bentley Class Editor.Link>>

    3. From the search button, search for Piping network segment/pipe run as shown

    4. Add a new property PIPELINE_TAG as shown

    5. Add custom attribute calculated ECProperty Specification to the added property as shown

    6. Add below EC Expression as shown

      this.GetRelatedInstance("PIPELINE_HAS_SEGMENT:1:PIPING_NETWORK_SYSTEM").NAME

    7. Add Annotation custom attribute as shown

    8. Add the values as shown

    9. Add Category custom attribute as shown

    10. Fill the details as shown

    11. Save the schema changes as shown

    12. Relaunch the OpenPlant PID application & verify results.

    13. Create a pipeline and place it on the drawing as shown

Notice that after placing a pipe run the annotation is automatically linked to the mouse cursor.

    14.  Place a major pipeline in a vertical direction, in Place Annotation window check for Rotate on placement as shown

Notice that after checking the option the tag is placed as shown
