How to configure Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition with SQL database using Windows Authentication.

Product(s): Bentley Raceway & Cable Management
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition through 10.00.00.127
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Installation & Configuration
      Subarea: N/A

    Background

Bentley Raceway and Cable Management (BRCM) uses SQL database for cable routing features.
The SQL database can be configured using ODBC either with SQL Server authentication or using Windows Authentication.
This article describes how to configure the SQL database using ODBC with Windows Authentication.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Open ODBC Data Sources (64-Bit) from the following location- C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools

2.In the ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) , browse to System DSN tab and Click on Add.

3.In the Create New Data Source dialog , Select SQL Server.

    4. In the Create New Data Source to SQL Server dialog , provide the name to the data source and select the SQL server where the database is located. Click Next to proceed.

5.Select Windows NT Authentication for Windows Authentication to the SQL database. Click on Next to proceed.

6.Check Change default database option and select the database from the drop-down menu and click Next to proceed.

    7. The ODBC Data Source will be created . Click Finish .

    8.Click on Test Data Source.

    9. After the Data Source is tested successfully click Ok. The ODBC Data Source is successfully created.

    10. Open the BRCM.cfg file for BRCM_EU_EN WorkSet available at following location- C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Metric Example\Worksets\BRCM_EU_EN\Standards\BRCM

Note- Here ,for instance BRCM_EU_EN is the WorkSet selected. Any WorkSet can be selected as per requirement.

    11. Edit the BRCM_DB_CONNECTSTRING variable in BRCM.cfg file by specifying the Data Source Name (DSN) of the new created Data Source and removing the UID and PWD entries as depicted .
