Background

If you had to place multiple section tables just to view the Cable Type information along with the other information or you wanted to remove some columns from the tables and add the Cable Type in their place.

It is now possible in the latest update of the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, you can easily edit section tables XML files and add the Cable Type Column to them. A new variable "$(cabletype_items)" is been defined for catering to this functionality inside the application.
 

Steps to Accomplish

1. Select a WorkSpace and open a file registered as 2D extraction from the Workset. For Example: I have selected a default imperial project from the BRCM Imperial Example WorkSpace and opened 2DX_US.dgn.
   
   
   
2. Select the Create Section tool from the 2D Extraction ribbon tab and select an existing section inside the design file.
   
   
   
3. Select a section table Profile from the Section Properties, for example: Cross Section RW Table (Std.xml).
   
   
   
4. Configure the Section Name and Table Direction, then press OK to place the section table on the drawing.
   
   
   
5. As shown in the image below, the section table has different table headers under which all the section information is displayed.
   
   
   
6. Every Section Cut tables have xml files carrying the details like Column, Legend, text styles default unit etc. These xml files are stored in the selected WorkSpace’s standard dataset inside the metadata folder. As, we have selected the profile Cross Section RW Table (Std.xml), It fetches all the section table details from the CSECTION_Std.xml.
   
   
   
7. As you can see, there is no column entry for the cable types. A new variable "$(cabletype_items)" is defined to add the Cable Type Column in different Section Tables inside Bentley Raceway and cable Management.
   
   
   
8. Now, add <Column header="Cable Type" alignment="right" format="$(cabletype_items)" /> in the CSECTION_Std.xml as shown in the image below and save the file.
   
   
   
9. Now switch to Bentley Raceway and Cable Management and select the Update Sections tool from the 2D Extraction ribbon tab and select the Section 10 to update it.
   
   
   
10. After updating the Section 10, you will see an additional column Cable Type which was added in the CSECTION_Std.xml file.
