OpenPlant Modeler Integration
Bentley Raceway and Cable Management's Raceway and Underground System design tools are now included with OpenPlant Modeler. You can elect to install these design tools during the OpenPlant Modeler product install.
Note: To utilize cable management features you will need to use this standalone Bentley Raceway and Cable Management application.
OPM iModel Equipment Import Schema Location Changed
The "OpenPlant_Supplemental_Mapping_BRCM.01.07.ecschema" will no longer be located in the “ECSchemas” folder of the installation path “C:\Program Files\Bentley\Bentley Raceway and Cable Management CONNECT Edition\BRCM.” This schema now is placed under the dataset in the workspace. For example, the Metric dataset “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Metric Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\schemas."
Enhanced iModel Import for OPM Equipment
You now have the ability to specify the electrical device insertion point for your OpenPlant Modeler equipment as a new property in the OPM iModel schema. The property name is user definable and configurable in Bentley Raceway and Cable Management by setting this new configuration variable to the name of the property you want to use: BRCM_OPM_CABLE_CONNECTION.
By default it is configured as follows:
Property Name
Value
ELECTRICAL_DEVICE_OFFSET
X,Y, Z (This is the offset from the insertion point of the equipment to where the electrical device should be located.)
When the iModel is imported into Bentley Raceway and Cable Management the software will check this property to see if it has an offset specified and if so it will place the electrical equipment such as a junction box at this offset. If this property is not found or has no value the electrical equipment will be inserted at the same insertion point as the OpenPlant Modeler equipment.
Components Center Integration Moved from Technical Preview to Commercial Release
Components Center is a cloud-based digital component library and catalog management service. It allows users to efficiently manage their digital component libraries while providing their designers with approved, proprietary components as well as manufacturer's content via subscriptions.
Cell-based equipment can now be stored as components in Components Center. The Equipment Manager allows you to place cells from Components Center in addition to local or shared cell libraries in a WorkSpace.
Components Center integration is enabled in the Options > Components Center dialog by selecting the Enable Components Center checkbox.
Enhanced Ribbon Menu
New Contextual Ribbon Menu Tools
We added some common modification tools that were missing from the contextual ribbon menus when selecting Raceway and Duct Bank objects. These tools include:
New Help Ribbon Tab
We added a help ribbon tab that gives you quick access to various help resources including:
Raceways Mended When Fittings are Deleted
When a Tee fitting is deleted the straight part of the raceway system will be automatically mended. Similarly, when a Crossover fitting is deleted the raceways will be mended in both directions so that you can then consider adding an elevation to one of the systems to avoid the overlap.
Bulk Load Raceway UDAs into the Raceway Router tool
You now have the ability to import multiple UDA values into the Raceway Router dialog prior to routing raceway. This feature saves you time by allowing you to predefine commonly used UDA values and load them in bulk before routing raceways.
New Raceway Divider Capacity Settings
When adding dividers to your raceway systems you now have the option to specify the capacity of the dividers based on cable quantities. A new picklist allows you to select a "<Dynamic>" entry that will automatically calculate the size of the sections created by the divider in order to allow the maximum number of cables to be routed. This new picklist also allows you to select commonly used capacity percentages so that you can quickly set the capacity.
Visualize Now Highlights Raceway Systems
You can now reference your raceway model into your routing model and Visualize a cable route to highlight the raceways the cable was routed through. Previously it only highlighted the routing line which was harder to see.
New Isometric Cable Route Report
A new cable route report template has been created which includes visualizations of the cable route taken. The Output Manager now includes an Export Images tool that automatically creates the cable route visualizations and captures images of them and saves them to the path specified in a new configuration variable named, "BRCM_IMAGE_PATH." When you then run the cable route report it includes those images for each cable included in the report as shown here:
New Support for Product Code Calculations
We have added additional capabilities to generate product codes for raceway parts by allowing you to perform mathematical calculations on different variables that can be used in the product code.
Syntax Rules
i.e. <PCode Value="RWEB ${($VATradeWidth) - ($RT)} ($UTMaterial)" />
New Equipment ID Filters in BOQ
The Detail_BOQ_WithEquipmentID report template now supports filtering on the Equipment ID as shown here:
Increased Cable Pull Card Sheet Limitation
Previously, the Cable Pull Card feature was limited to creating 255 separate worksheets in Excel for each cable. Now that limitation has been increased to 5000 to allow you to generate more cable pull cards in the same Excel file.
2D Extraction Section Table Enhancements
Dynamically Sized 2D Extraction Section Tables
Creating 2D Extraction tables now automatically detects whether you are placing the table in a model or a sheet and adjusts the size of the table accordingly.
We have introduced a new Text Style for 2D extraction tables that is properly sized for models and each CSECTION*.xml file has separate text style and size settings depending on whether the table will be placed in a model or a sheet.
Include Cable Types in 2D Extraction Section Tables
You can now display cable types in 2D Extraction section tables.
We created a new predefined variable named “$(cabletype_items)” which can be added into the legend category of any of the cross section template files as shown here:
This variable will report the cable types of all cables found in the cross section as shown here:
Note: The $(rw_id) variable must be present in the same table in order for the $(cabletype_items) variable to work.
New / Changed Option Settings
Several changes have been made to the software options which include:
New Air Gap Distance setting allows you to adjust the routing connection tolerance which was previously hard coded to 10mm.
Status Management Options Clarified
New Formalized SDK
Bentley Raceway and Cable Management includes a public API that allows you to automate the placement of equipment. During the product installation you can elect to install the Product SDK which provides you with a help file document explaining how to use the API and an example program that demonstrates how you can use the equipment placement API.
Dataset Updates
Dataset Changes made for Update 5 can be found in the CFG_Properties.xml under each WorkSpace.
i.e. C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\metadata\CFG_Properties.xml
The specific changes in this version can be found under version 3.5 as shown below:
Important! Dataset Files Renamed
We renamed the default CAT and DNA files in the standard datasets to shorten the filenames to avoid exceeding the Windows 255 character limit on file paths. We employed the various abbreviations explained in this document when renaming the files:
DOCX
You can find the "FileNameMappings.csv" file that contains a list of the original filenames and the new updated filenames within each WorkSpace's Raceway Dataset folder.
i.e. C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\raceway
