How to Create Cell-based Equipment and Publish it on Components Center

Product(s): Bentley Raceway & Cable Management
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition (10.05.00.54)
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Components Center
      Subarea: N/A
      Original Author: Aadarsh Tale

    Background

Components Center is a cloud service that will provide you with the latest components, manufacturing catalog objects that can be used in the design, structure, and operational workflows. In the Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, you can place cell-based equipment from the component center and create your own organization-defined catalogs.

This article describes the procedure to create cell-based Equipment from Components Center and how to publish them to the Components Center.

Note: Users must have required rights and permissions to use Components Center on their machines and should consult with their Project Administration Team beforehand.
Open the Components Center Web Portal with Google Chrome for better experience.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Select an Imperial project and open a design file for example the Equipment file.
    2. Open the Equipment Manager from Equipment & Cable ribbon tab.

    3. Go to the Create/Modify Equipment Tab.

    4. In Equipment Properties Section there is a "Descr" Property, the value provided by you here will be saved as a name of the Category in the Components Center. For example: enter “My_Motors” for the value field and a category named as My_Motors will be created in Components Center.
Later, you can also publish different components under this category.

    5. In the 2D cell Property click the Browse(...) Button.
Choose the Cell Library and Cell for example "CADLIB_ElectricParts" and "Motor_2D" respectively.

    6. In the 3D cell Property, Click the Browse Button.
Choose the Cell Library and Cell for example "CADLIB_ElectricParts" and "MotorLarge_3D" respectively.

    7. Click the Browse button (...). to add user defined attributes (UDAs).

    8. The Edit Equipment Attributes Dialog will get open. Select any attribute, for example, “Manufacturer” and add the Manufacturer under the UDA default value such as "Manufacturer1".

    9. Press Ok to Proceed.

    10. Click Yes to save the changes.

    11. Click Yes to create a Components Center Component.

    12. Select the Application as Bentley Raceway and Cable Management.
Select your organization’s catalog name which in my case is "BRCM Imperial Equipment".

Note: In order to select the catalog from the pick list you need to have your organization’s catalog on Components Center created by your administrator.
You can find the link of “How to create catalogs in the web portal” in the see also section of this article.
    13. Type the name of the Component in Component name text box for example "Motor_1". Press OK to save to Components Center.

    14. Click Ok to place the component in the File.

Note: Equipment Manger Dialog will be closed, and the Component will be placed.
Catalog and Cell Files will be saved at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\Components.

    15. In addition to it, you can also see the component on the Components Center web portal.
Go to the CONNECT Center from the CONNECTION Client.

    16. The CONNECT Web-Portal will open.
Select Components Center from My Services.

    17. Select your catalog which in my case was BRCM Imperial Equipment from the Catalog list or filter using Category “My_Motors” for quick results to find the recently created component.

    18. In the above example, we have created a new category “My_Motors” and also introduced an UDA “Manufacturer1” in it.
Bentley Raceway and Cable Management handles the UDA by automatically creating entries for the new Category in the ComponentsCenterUDA.xml with all the UDAs as shown in the image below.

      Note: ComponentCenterUDA.xml file path: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\BRCM CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Workspaces\BRCM Imperial Example\Standards\BRCM\std_dataset\equipment.
