    Background

Components Center is a platform for publishing components or component part libraries and using them in your organization or projects. The components can be published by manufacturers, standard bodies, and content aggregators. For example, 3D models of industrial or architectural components, 2D electrical symbols or databases containing dimensional and electrical properties from a manufacturer's catalog. Components Center provides a platform to consolidate all these disparate components in a centralized managed location and makes them available throughout the company and projects.

In this article, you will get to know how to create your custom catalog from the Components Center’s web portal.

Note: Users must have required rights and permissions to use Components Center on their machines and should consult with their Project Administration Team beforehand.
Open the Components Center Web Portal with Google Chrome for better experience.

    Steps to Accomplish

    1. Open the CONNECTION Client and log in with your credentials. Select the CONNECT Center tab.

    2. The CONNECT Center Web-Portal will open. Select Components Center from My Services.

    3. Now open the Settings as shown in the image below to add new catalogs.

    4. Select Catalogs from the pick list to open Catalog Management page.

    5. Catalog Management page will open, and you can create a new catalog by selecting the “+” button.

    6. Name your catalog in the Add Catalog dialog box, which in my case is “MY_METRIC_MOTORS”.

    7. In the image below, you can see that the newly created catalog is visible in the list and has zero components.

    8. In order to display the Catalog inside the application, it needs to have at least one component in Published state.
Now, go back to the Library Management page and click “+” to add new components in the library.

    9. In the below given dialog, there are some mandatory fields like Component File, by which you can add the new components under your chosen Category and Catalog. Enter a name for the component in the Name mandatory field.
Note: Assign the EQP tag to the component, otherwise it will not be present in the list inside the Equipment manager while placing the equipment.

    10. The newly created component will have the Draft state and in order to use that component inside the application, you must change the state to Published. Select the Show Details button, then select the component and click edit.
    11. Select Published from the State pick list and save the changes.

    12. As you can see in the image below, the state of the component is now changed to Published.

    13. Now, open Bentley Raceway and Cable management and you can see the newly created catalog “MY_METRIC_MOTORS” in the pick list while saving the new Cell-based equipment in the Components Center.
