Background

In OpenPlant Modeler, Spec validation tool updates existing components in model automatically if spec has been updated for any field. But bolts and gaskets are left behind since these are not part of pipeline manager therefore user has to update them manually. In this article we will discuss the easier way to update bolts and gaskets in bulk. We can add filter and update the required components.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Launch OpenPlant Modeler Connect Edition, from the desktop icon.

  2. Open a Sample model which has Bolts and Gaskets.

  3. Once the model is loaded, click on File Explorer to open the Explorer dialog box, here we will see all the components present in the model.

  4. Navigate to the item tab in explorer look for Stud Bolt and right click on it and click on details and it will list all the Stud Bolt.

  5. In the Details (Items) window, right click on the header of the column and click on Show Filter.

  6. Now filter the size with NominalDiameter =100 mm as below in case we have other size it will filter only with 100 mm ND.

  7. Let’s update DESCRIPTION of all the bolts for 100mm. Select all rows in DESCRIPTION column, right click and select edit.

  8. Let’s add TEST word as suffix and it will change for all if all is select or we can also filter which all studs we need to change the description for.

  9. Close the window and verify results in properties dialog.

  10. Let try the same above steps for Gaskets by selecting desired size and rating.

    1. Open the model and click on File Explorer from the Primary tab.

    2. Search for Gasket right click on it and select details.

    3. In below details windows, we have filtered Nominal Diameter =150 and Rating = CL300

    4. Select all 6 records and change the name of description by editing the name.

    5. Verify results.
