Background:

While synchronization to PlantSight, sometimes we get an error and it is very difficult to identify which component is responsible for the problem. OPPID is now generating “OPPID_SYNC” log file at ...\Users\$User$\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\OpenPlantPID\Logs\ location. We also have “Component Selection” tool which is designed to assist in finding a specific component that was mentioned in an error message. The component can be searched and zoomed using the following options:

Steps to Accomplish

  1. While working in OPPID, the following error may happen during the synchronization process.

  2. Errors can be seen in the message center.
  3. Also, we can browse to ...\Users\$User$\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\OpenPlantPID\Logs\ location and open the OPPID_synch log file.

  4. Here you can see the components which are faulty. Log file is suggesting that the tags of the virtual nozzle is already present in Plantsight.
  5. Copy the component Instance ID of virtual nozzle
  6. In OPPID, key-in “pid component select” to launch the “Component Selection Tool” dialog

  7. Paste the Instance Id of the faulty component, enable the Zoom check box and select the Zoom Factor.
  8. Finally press the Ok button. The program will zoom to the faulty component. In our case, this is the Nozzle Tag, hence it zooms in as below:

  9. Modify the tag of faulty component using PID Element properties.
  10. Similarly, you can rectify the issue of other faulty components.
  11. Finally run the Synchronization process again.
