Creating an Annotation with the EC Annotation Manager

Overview

The EC Annotation Manager can be a very useful tool for the creation and management of annotations in OpenPlant.  Below is a brief example of the steps to create a basic annotation in the Annotation Manager.

  1. Open the Drawing Composition task in OpenPlant Modeler. 

  2. Launch the Annotation Manager (T, 8, 2) **This will temporarily close the active model and open a new session for the creation of the annotation cell, be sure you execute the correct ModelServer task to ensure no work is lost**. See Image below.



  3. In the Annotation Manager, assign a Cell Name and select the Class the annotation will apply to in the Item Type tree below.

  4. Select the Place Text tool, and select insert field option in the word processor dialog.

  5. In the Fields Editor, select the component data item(s) you would like included in the annotation.



  6. Once the text is configured, place the annotation cell in the the model and press close in the annotation manager.

  7. You will be returned to the original model and annotation will available to place from the annotation manager.
