Background

Many times user faces issues during applying slope on a horizontal pipeline on which inline components e.g valves placed.Issue as shown in image below - Slope gets applied to either part of pipeline to that of valve. So this wiki will help in knowing how to apply slope to entire pipeline even when inline components are placed.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. In below image on a Horizontal pipeline valve is placed already on which Slope will be applied.Green smartline is placed along with centerline of pipeline.

  2. In Openplant Modeler Workflow →Piping Tab→Manuplation→Apply Slope

  3. Select the Rise/Run method and ratio depending upon requirement as 5:1000 or 10:1000 i.e 10mm down for 1m horizontal length.Along with other selection as shown in image below. Pipe is slightly sloped down can be seen through smart line drawn through centerline of pipeline . Trim Elbows- This option controls whether elbows will be trimmed per the slope angle when applying a slope to a piping network. Continue Through Risers- Enabled- the slope will apply to the entire route of the selected line including through any riser sections. Disabled - the slope will apply only to the components leading up to a riser section.

Process Pipe Within: The value entered here defines the maximum angle in the vertical direction an existing pipe can be drawn and still apply a slope to it. Anything higher than this is considered a riser and will either be the end point for slope processing or will allow slope processing to continue beyond this section based on the Continue Through Risers setting.
  4. Proceed to click on First point as shown below .As soon as first point is selected white line is generated which will coincide with Green center line then click on Second point. After selecting first point itself the slope is applied to horizontal pipeline as shown in image below.

  5. After selecting the Second Point White line disappears and the slope is applied on Pipeline in down direction as shown in image below..

  6. Similarly Slope can be applied in Up direction as shown below.
