How to Export PXF file in AutoPLANT Modeler

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPLANT Modeler CONNECT Modeler
    Version(s): 10.00.XX.XX
    Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit)
    Area: General
    Subarea:
Original Author: Abhijeet Shinde, Bentley Product Advantage Group

    Background

The Plant Exchange (PXF) format used to transfer the data between different Bentley design applications and it contains intelligent information about components used in industrial plants. This format is extendable and can be updated according to client specifications or future needs, without affecting existing files. AutoPLANT  Modeler can both create and read PXF files.

This Wiki article explains the steps on how to export  the PXF file in AutoPLANT Modeler CONNECT Edition.

    Steps to Accomplish

1.Click on Plant Exchange > PXF > Export as shown in below snapshot.

The PXF Export command enables user to create a Plant Exchange formatted file from AutoPLANT PIPING drawings. This command is provided  to generate a Plant Exchange formatted file that can then be imported into Bentley AutoPIPE stress analysis software. User generally use it to generate a PXF file for AutoPLANT drawings, then import this file to create an AutoPLANT drawing model in other machine from these PXF Files.

2.Before run Export, user should set the PXF export settings as desired in the preferences dialog. The Plant Exchange (PXF) tab on that dialog enables to define the output directory where  PXF files will be stored.

3.When user execute the PXF command, AutoPLANT will display the AutoPLANT Selections  dialog. This dialog enables to define the selection set of components that will be exported. After selecting the component to be exported, press OK to close the dialog.

4.The start of PXF file generation is indicated by the display of the Import/Export Progress dialog. When the process is complete, PXF file(s) will reside in the PXF Output directory that specified in the Import/Export Preferences dialog.

Note- At this time, there are a few components and module's of components that are not supported for PXF output.

These include: Cable Tray module components, Conduit module components, HVAC module components,  Instrument module components, and Lined Pipe module components.
