Background

In OpenPlant Modeler for hand wheel, a user can modify hand wheel length (HANDWL_LEN) and diameter (HANDWL_OD) but there is not any option to modify the Stem Diameter of the hand wheel. The value of stem diameter is hard coded in the code and it’s dependent on the Wheel Diameter.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open a metric spec mEX-OPM in MS Access mode. Below mentions path is default for OpenPlant Metric workset

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\OpenPlantExample\WorkSets\Metric\Standards\OpenPlant\Specs

  2. Go to TOPWORKS.

  3. Filter the parameter as shown and inspect the HANDWL_ODHANDWL_LEN.

  4. In OpenPlant Modeler place a HAND_WHEELof main size 100.

  5. Referring to spec there is not any fields from where the value 38.10 is populating.

  6. The Stem Diameter value is populating using the following relation.

    Stem Diameter = Wheel Diameter / 6.

    Stem Diameter = 228.60 / 6 = 38.10

  7. In spec.mdb copy an existing row have a revision 1 and change the HANDWL_OD to 300.

  8. Save all the changes and reload the spec in OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT.

  9. Place handwheel on value as shown below.

  10. In OpenPlant Modeler place HAND_WHEEL of HANDWL_OD 300 and check the Stem Diameter.
