Background

In this wiki article, we will explore the recommended workflow that needs to be followed upon using Follow Page Connector and Update in OpenPlant PID SS10. This wiki also explains about the possible error message or prompt upon using Follow Page Connector and Update if correct workflow has not been followed. When a page connector has been placed in a drawing file the drawing file must be synced and checked-in. If both drawing (having linked page connectors) have not synced, performing follow page connector and update, the application will prompt some warning or error message. Refer image as shown below.

As a part of recommended workflow, refer below mentioned steps and workflow.

Steps to Accomplish

1. Create a drawing file named as Document A.dgn. Open it in OpenPlant PID SS10 and place few component with Page Connector as shown below.
   
   
   
   
2. From Plant Project > Synchronize, perform synchronization of data to database.
3. Once synced successfully, close the document and ensure to select Check-in option to the dialog, refer image as shown below.
   
   
   
   
4. Load Document B.dgn in OpenPlant PID SS10 and place an existing page connector that will link with Document A.dgn. Place couple of more components to it as shown below.
   
   
   
   
5. Please note that Document B has not been synced yet.
6. Right click on Page Connector and select Follow Page Connector and Update as shown to the image below.
   
   
   
   
7. Notice that application ask to load the linked model file and points to the page connector of drawing file Document A. It also update the linked Document B as shown below.
   
   
   
   
8. Now, if we try to perform Follow Page Connector and Update from Document A, application will prompt error message as shown below.
   
   
   
   
9. This error message is due to incorrect workflow. Document B.dgn must be synced to database in order to perform follow page connector and update from both the drawings.
10. Load Document B.dgn and sync to database. Now perform Follow Page Connector and Update, this will work properly from any of the drawing that contains linked page connector.
